Hidden Paintings of the South East

For those of you who don't know, I work at Charleston Farmhouse and Towner Art Gallery when I am not sourcing and selling vintage clothes and accessories.

Frock Me - Sunday 5 June

We had a great time at Frock Me in Brighton today.

We met lots of lovely dogs; here are a few:

Poppy just wasn't interested in those two-tone navy court shoes.  I had to try something else to tempt her...

 

 Ah yes, a nice tripe chew - works every time!!

Here's lovely Woody; do you know how difficult it is to photograph a four month old spaniel with more on his mind than vintage clobber?

...third time lucky!  Anyway, his eyes weren't quite this colour, they were more a dreamy brown - just look at those lovely paws!  

I really fell for Woody xx

What will Zadie say!

Here are some of our lovely customers, a few regular faces you may recognise, and some new ones too. 

 We absolutely love the funky Miss Marple look, 

and just look at those wonderful vintage shoes...

 

 ...and as Ana and I always say, vintage is for everyone, any age - look at this lovely lady below, we thought she looked particularly lovely in her 1940s inspired outfit.     

She bought a little case from us, but we didn't get her name. 

It was great to see Anna Tilson and friend; Anna not only creates amazing mosaics and often exibits them at open houses in Brighton, but also teaches techniques in mosaics to help make gorgeous items for your home. 

There were some really great stalls today with lovely, gorgeous 'things' to buy.  Check these out...

 

  Here are Paris Accent, French antiques and collectables, who also have a shop in Maidstone, Kent. 

Ashleigh also sells her vintage inspired collections.

behind this time; she is getting too chipped 

and she is no spring chicken...

Memories of Burgh Island

Looking through our photos, Ana and I found a selection from our visit to Burgh Island in Devon. 

If you don't know it, the island has one hotel and it was the inspiration for Agatha Christie

when she stayed to write Evil Under the Sun.  

In fact, the David Suchet and Hugh Fraser 'Poirot' version was filmed there.  

The hotel is a complete and wonderful Art Deco experience. 

Here are some of our memories, firstly, getting to and walking about the island...

...and once we got inside; the atmosphere was simply amazing.  Art deco furniture everywhere - it was almost as if time had stood still.  

 

And all too soon, it was time to go home.  I'm sure Burgh Island had an impact on my choosing to work with vintage clothes and accessories.  One day we will go back...
